A manic month

Wow the past month has been crazy busy.

I have been offered a new job at work which is on the same grade as my job that was made redundant but unfortunately they have insisted it has to be a full time job.

I am not supposed to start officially until 1 August but you wouldn't know it as I have been doing two jobs for the last few weeks and still on part time hours.  I have gone from a role where I have no staff to manage to one where I will have 75 staff members (not all direct reports thank goodness!)

I was desperate to enjoy my last few weeks of working part time so I could make the most of my days off with Nathaniel but I think I have ended up bringing stuff home and working on every single one so far!

So at the moment I feel I am drowning in work.  I only have three weeks left though before I have a couple of weeks leave, then it is straight into the new job.  I am hoping once I am in the new role and working full time it will actually be a bit easier than trying to juggle two jobs in three days a week.  But before then I need to advertise, interview and recruit to fill the 12 or so vacancies that I have in the new function on top of trying to do some kind of handover to the girl who is taking over from me - deep joy.

On top of the work situation I have been busy tying together little favours for our ladies day at Church.  I had 300 of these little gifts to make up which took quite a while!  The ladies day was a great day though.

Also it was my sister in law Karen's birthday and I made some cakes for her surprise party.

Other than that I have been delivering newsletters and trying to collect the annual subs from our residents association members.

Plus my parents have been on holiday so there have been added child care changes to juggle.

Oh and I have been suffering from a trapped nerve in my lower back and consequently have been trying to squeeze in several appointments to see the Osteopath.  He got a little exasperated with me this week because I haven't been doing any of the exercises he set me.  I don't think he understands quite how manic my last few weeks have been!!

David and Nat Camp in the Garden

As the weather seemed to have improved a little David decided to pitch a small tent in the garden so that he and Nat could camp out overnight.

Nathaniel was extremely excited helping David get the tent ready and putting all his essentials inside (torches, double decker bus, handpainted garden gnome etc.)

We had a BBQ in the evening with sausages cooked over the fire pit

Then we toasted marshmallows.

and said goodnight to the boys.  I turned on the coloured lantern lights in the garden to give some light in one of them needed to come back in the house during the night.

Oh the joy of a double bed to myself for a night and being able to starfish!!

I was sleeping with the window open and could hear Nathaniel chatting away and giggling late into the evening.  not sure how much sleep David got!!

Catch up

Haven't blogged for quite a while so I a few photos that I haven't yet had chance to upload.

These are from an evening BBQ we had with friends who were camping in Cowfold.

The kids had a great time because they could roam and play in the woods, on the rope swing, building shelters and campfires, toasting marshmallows and just playing various wide games. The little kids enjoyed playing with clay dug from the bottom of a stream.

The adults enjoyed a more sedate chat around a bonfire until late into the evening.

A few weeks ago I also invited a few ladies from Church over for Saturday morning breakfast.  It was a lovely way to start the day with lots of yummy cereals, fresh fruit, pancakes, crumpets and crossaints.

Oh and here is a tie that Nathaniel made for David for Fathers Day!
