Bunting outside the front of our house |
This morning Nat was a little bit sick in his cot. I thought he was going to be really ill all day but other than being a little off his food, there has been no discernable difference in him.

Heart Shaped Wooden Union Jack Bunting?? I just had to have it! |
It has been quite a busy day moving furniture, cleaning, stringing up bunting, hanging flags, making ice cubes etc. This morning my husband David complained that yesterday's Blog did not have any pictures in it. As he is one of my only two followers I have dutifully included some photos of our jubilee preparations.

Large Union Jack Flag hanging in our front window |
After breakfast I hung out some washing and then I went to the post office to send off my bi-monthly letters and parcels to the three children we sponsor in Armenia, Kenya and Honduras. Then I had to do a supermarket shop to buy in some salad ingredients and to purchase some strawberries.

Nat gets in the spirit with this Crown he made at Sunday school last week. |
This afternoon I took a meal around to some neighbours (the ones who are having an extension built as they are without a kitchen) then I decorated my jubilee cake. I had decided to do a Union Jack Flag design which proved to be more tricky than I had anticipated. It might have been better if I had used a template but I decided to try and do it free hand so I am not sure it is an accurate representation of the British flag. Then again, some of the bunting I have strung up is not accurately printed either.

The Bunting that Seb helped me string along our hedge |
In the middle of the Cake I made a small crown but again I wasn't too sure what it was supposed to look like and I was doing it in a bit of a rush while Nat was having his nap. It is a bit skewed but never mind. Seb commented that it needed more jewels. Apparently the Queen's Crown has over 60 emeralds, sapphires etc. Anyway if anyone wants to be that critical about it, they can go without a slice!

My slightly lopsided Jubilee Cake - not too bad for a rush job! |
Seb gave me a hand sweeping up leaves and weeding our front drive. He also handed me pennies so I could tape them to the bunting to try and stop it blowing around too much. Seb was very concerned to ensure we used all British pennies as he thought the Queen might not like us using any foreign coins!!
I was chatting with my next door neighbour when a couple walked past with their young child and called out that they liked our bunting. We invited them to join us on Saturday night. Turns out they live further down our road and are friends with the couple with the newborn baby three houses up from us. They said they would come along so it will be nice to get to know them.

Our Next Door Neighbour's Flag Pole |
I am putting off the task of peeling and slicing 16 large onions ready to cook tomorrow to be eaten with the hotdogs and burgers. I hope that they are not too strong and don't make my eyes water too badly!

Some Jubilee partyware I purchased |
I have also started to get out some things that we need to take to Cornwall with us as there won't be much time to pack this weekend.

I could not resist these tablecloths with the Queen's Soldiers along the side. |
Spent some time reading with Nat and playing with his toys then Seb went out into the garden and played on the trampoline with him so I could cook our dinner.
Youth club tonight which is when I usually try and tackle my ever increasing ironing pile.
I think I will sleep well tonight!
