A Portrait of the Queen

The local newspaper is running a competition for children up to the age of sixteen who have been asked to submit their portraits of Queen Elizabeth II in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee. Our eldest son Seb (13) drew and coloured in the picture below. Seb was rather concerned to learn that all the entries will be sent to Buckingham Palace and was worried in case the Queen should be insulted by how he had drawn her!

Not one to be left out of the action, Seb’s little brother Nat (2) also wanted to do some ‘drawing’. It may not look like it, but the below effort was very carefully captured in felt tip pen with great seriousness and focused attention.

The paper has promised to print all entries in their 23 May publication. I have therefore submitted both of my boys’ attempts to see whether the news paper will indeed, as promised, print every entry!!
It may be their only chance to have their artistic work published. We’ll shamelessly take our chances wherever we can get them!
